The Dog Hoser, Fish Bath, Toilet Snorkel and Hand Near Mouth Alarm are all patented product inventions that have made their way onto the Web site totallyabsurd.com, a virtual island of misfit inventions.
The descriptions of these unwanted inventions should inspire anyone to put a patent attorney to work.
— Dog Hoser. A blow-dryer that looks like a dog. Designed to overcome the innate fear dogs apparently have of blow-dryers at pet grooming stations, the Dog Hoser was supposed to make canines more comfortable during the drying process. This product has not revolutionized the pet grooming business, however, because dogs apparently are even more startled by hot air blown from the retractable tail of another dog.
— Fish bath. A cross between an aquarium and a bathtub. The inventor envisioned people enjoying baths in transparent tubs with all sorts of sea creatures swimming on the other side of the Plexiglas. Besides the obvious problem of controlling water temperature, this invention ran into trouble with animal rights groups who believe it would be cruel to force fish to live beside naked humans pressed against a transparent surface.
