Between Mother’s Day, which -- surprisingly -- is this Sunday, and Father’s Day, which also will be upon us in no time, small armies of mortarboard-wearing youths will parade across prefabricated plywood stages nationwide to accept their licenses for higher learning.
As if that wasn’t enough, they’ll also want presents for getting this far. They have ideas; you have a budget. Fortunately, in the range of possible options between a car (which they crave) and a fountain pen (which they don’t) lies a wealth of gift ideas broadly labeled either "fun" or "functional."
