Consuming these powerhouses regularly might reduce your risk of heart disease by more than 75 percent, from the editors of Fitness Magazine.
Dark chocolate
3.5 ounces per day reduces risk by 21 percent.
The flavonoids in chocolate prevent clogged arteries by raising levels of beneficial HDL cholesterol, which helps remove bad LDL cholesterol particles from the bloodstream. The only problem: The prescribed 3.5-ounce daily serving provides a hefty 531 calories. Thankfully, other studies show that just 1.6 ounces (a diet-friendly 240 calories' worth) might be enough.
